Powder Chaser – Flexible location

Season from Jan 6 to Mar 6

Become independent in the backcountry

On this trip, you will have to think as a guide. We will give you all the tools and theory necessary, and you have to prepare tours and make your own decisions. All while getting constant feedback from UIAGM guide. You should learn much more this way and can pick lines by yourself next time you are in a backcountry. You will get as much skiing done as on our usual freeride camps. Locations are flexible since this is a powder chaser trip.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON or MONDAY MORNING_Departure

Departure home. You can extend your trip either before or after the standard trip (upon agreement)

Details

Flexible location

We chase the powder and decide according to the conditions. Examples include: Italy (Livigno or Santa Catarina), Switzerland (Graubünden) or Austria (Montafon).

Concept

Participants take turns in “leading” the group and making decisions. UIAGM guide is behind you, giving you feedback, and questioning your decisions. You will put the knowledge you learn at the camp into practice on the mountain. By doing you should learn way more than by passively listening. There will be night presentations and discussions. We should get as much skiing as usual.

Topics

For freeriding, we will focus on SAFE LINE CHOICE, READING THE MAP, AVOIDING TRAPS, FINDING THE BEST SNOW. For ski touring and splitboarding we will go through SAFE ASCENT, WORKING AVALANCHE FORECASTS, quick and practical SNOW PROFILE TEST, and more.

Accommodation

Alpen pension or huts (approx. 40 EUR per person per night)

Who is it for

You should have previous experience with freeriding (off-piste skiing) and ski touring (or splitboarding) and should be willing to push your backcountry and avalanche skills to the next level.

Our trip is for both skiers and snowboarders. It is for individuals, couples or bigger groups. If you travel solo – don’t worry, you will get to know fellow skiers/riders and have a good time.

Thinking about the trip, but not ready commit?

Leave us your email, and we will let you know when the trip is about to be sold out.
