Ski touring off the beaten path

Based on our 8 seasons long experience touring in Norway we created what we think is the best of various worlds: breathtaking tours and views in Lyngen, rugged island of Senja, world class touring playground in Tamokdalen and off the beaten path tours around our hut in Malselv.

If the group is up for it we can even throw in a speed boat access to a nearby island and spend a day on isolated Kagen Island.

A great highlight of this trip is our accommodation which is a typical Norwegian log with a history. Nestled in a remote location, far from the rush and hustle. It is an ideal place to recharge your batteries.

Itinerary

DAY 1 _ Flight to Tromsø | Overnight in Tromsø

Fly to Tromso, check-in in the hotel.

DAY 2 _ Pick-up in Tromsø

Pick-up followed by 1st tour in the Lyngen Alps on the way to our accommodation – a log hut in Malselv.

DAY 3 - 6 _ Malselv, Senja, Tamok | Ski touring, splitboarding

Touring days. The options are:
2 tours around our log house in Malselv

1 tour on the amazing island of Senja located between Lofoten and Tromsø. Senja is Norway’s scenic jewel, boasting rugged coastlines, towering peaks, and fishing villages. The island earns its nickname “Norway in miniature” due to its varied landscapes, which mirror the breadth of natural geography found across Norway.

1 tour in Tamokdalen – higher mountains, colder temperatures, and a great playground for touring.
Tamokdalen, known as “Trout Valley,” is a stunning 30-kilometer-long stretch in Troms, Norway. Its floor sits at 200 meters above sea level, while its towering peaks reach 1600 meters.

DAY 7_ Back to Tromsø

1 tour in Tamok or Lyngen on the way back. Potentially getting a speed boat to tour on an island or hitting some of our favorite spots. Night in Tromsø.

DAY 8_ Flight back home

Head back home.

Accommodation

Our log house

Our cozy log cabin in Målselv in the middle of nowhere is a classic Norwegian log house with a long history. Set in a pine forest near a Husky farm, you will enjoy a chilled stay. Plus, there is a sauna available for your use. The log is strategically placed in the center of some of the best touring spots you can access in the area. It has an open living room with a kitchen and 3 bedrooms.

Terrain

Lyngen Alps is the place to go freeriding if you are looking for powder in Scandinavia. It is tucked into the mainland so the snow is drier than in other areas. Our mission will be to ski a variety of backcountry terrain – powdery open lines, ocean runs, and classic lines in the area.
We will also take a look at the rugged island of Senja, the world-class touring playground in Tamokdalen and off the beaten path tours around our hut in Malselv. Options are limitless and we will adjust the itinerary to your needs and current weather and avalanche conditions.

Vertical Meters

On this trip, we will ski in secluded places only accessed by ski touring or split boarding. Expect around 1000 – 1200 vert. m daily within 6 days.

Who is it for?

You should have previous ski touring or splitboarding experience (at least 3 tours). You should be able to cover at least 1000 vert. m. daily for 3 days straight. 1 day off is definitely a possibility, more than that would likely hinder your experience.

Group size

We will be a maximum of 6 guests guided by a certified guide.

Thinking about the trip, but not ready to commit?

Leave us your email, and we will let you know when the trip is about to be sold out.

    Expert skiers and riders

Our classic ski touring trip is mostly open lines with some tree-skiing. For expert skiers only we put together an alternative around the most iconic steep lines and couloirs in Lyngen. To name a few, there is Forhorlttinden, nicknamed “The Godmother of all couloirs”. Sofiatinden or Trolvastinden. Crossing the Lyngen peninsula with an amazing downhill around Storgalten is also possible.

Those lines are around 40 to 45 degrees. Safety is the priority for us. If the conditions are not right, our UIAGM guide has more conservative option for each day.
